Pastor Hortense Karambiri and her husband, Pastor Mamadou Karambiri, are the co-founders of the ministry of Centre International d’Evangélisation/Mission Intérieure Africaine (CIE/MIA), located in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and are parents to four children.
Hortense Karambiri dedicates her talents and expertise to the Christian work of CIE, working alongside her husband in activities encompassing teaching, pastoral care, social work, and a Christian ministry specifically focusing on women. Her endeavours, which meld the evangelical message with education and social work, regularly feature in Burkina Faso’s television and newspapers, reaching audiences of Christian, Muslim, and other faiths and fostering general interest.
Her vision transcends the borders of her native country. Through her initiative, “Femmes de Destinée” (Women of Destiny), she orchestrates a network spanning West Africa, connecting thousands of women aiming to enhance their training to aid in church development. Hortense’s impactful social work, substantial influence in the French-speaking realm, and longstanding commitment to advocating for women’s rights have earned her recognition from the authorities in Burkina Faso. She was awarded the distinction of Chevalier de l’Ordre National in December 2011, followed by Chevalier des Palmes Académiques in October 2014.
These accolades honour the dedication and faith of a woman inspired by the hymn she cherishes: “Regardless of the obstacles, I’ll persevere.” They acknowledge her unwavering commitment to a cause she deeply believes in.
